Why do the country's largest institutions use Wilshire to help select their asset managers? The answer is simple - we leverage our knowledge and expertise to create multi-managed portfolios for our clients. Our key competitive advantages include:

Insight that adds value.

It is well known within the financial industry that a manager's past performance does not predict future results. At Wilshire Funds, we look beyond historical returns to select asset managers. We feel nothing replaces the knowledge obtained from a face-to-face interview with an asset manager to evaluate their investment capabilities. We conduct more than 1,500 interviews with potential asset managers each year and use the insight gained from this interaction combined with sophisticated quantitative analysis to formulate a view on their potential to perform on a forward-looking basis. This level of insight is the foundation of the portfolio construction of our multi-manager funds.

Access to the right combination of managers.

With more than 30 years of experience evaluating investment managers on behalf of some of the largest institutional investors in the U.S., Wilshire has proven itself as a thought leader. We actively track in excess of 1,300 different investment strategies in order to develop a forecast on how managers are likely to perform against the benchmark. This enables us to combine managers in a manner that is intended to help improve performance while decreasing risk. As a result, we're able to successfully meet the demands of our institutional client base representing more than $650 billion in pension fund, endowment and foundation assets.

Innovation that ensures stronger portfolios.

Innovative analytical tools such as the Dow Jones Wilshire 5000 Composite Index have helped establish metrics used by the entire investment industry. Wilshire Funds continues to develop proprietary tools such as our Leading Performance Indicator to help decipher manager performance. Thanks to our innovative methodologies we're able to dissect volatility and help minimize it across portfolios, keeping risk and return in balance, and constructing a portfolio that meets the investment guidelines for each of our multi-managed funds.
